Carole King (born 9 February 1942) is a jewish-american singer-songwriter. She was most active as a singer during the first half of the 1970s, but she was a successful songwriter for considerably longer both before and after this period. Born in 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, Carole Klein (as she was then known) started out playing the piano and then moved on to singing, forming a vocal quartet called the Co-Sines in high school. While attending Queens College, King befriended Paul Simon, Neil Sedaka and Gerry Goffin. Goffin and King soon formed a songwriting partnership, eventually marrying, working in the famous Brill Building, where chart-topping hits were churned out during the 1960s.

Hey girl I want you to know
I'm gonna miss you so much if you go
And hey girl I tell you no lie
Something deep inside of me's going to die
If you say so long, if this is goodbye
Hey girl this can't be true
How am I supposed to exist without you
And hey girl now don't put me on
What's gonna happen to me when you're gone
How will I live, How can I go on
How can I go on, Hey Girl
Hey girl now sit yourself down
I'm not ashamed to get down on the ground
And then beg you to stay
Don't go away, Hey Girl
I beg you please don't go away
Hey girl
