Carole King (born 9 February 1942) is a jewish-american singer-songwriter. She was most active as a singer during the first half of the 1970s, but she was a successful songwriter for considerably longer both before and after this period. Born in 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, Carole Klein (as she was then known) started out playing the piano and then moved on to singing, forming a vocal quartet called the Co-Sines in high school. While attending Queens College, King befriended Paul Simon, Neil Sedaka and Gerry Goffin. Goffin and King soon formed a songwriting partnership, eventually marrying, working in the famous Brill Building, where chart-topping hits were churned out during the 1960s.

Child Of Mine Lyrics

Carole King

Although you see the world
Different than me
Sometimes I can touch upon
The wonders that you see
And all the new colours
And pictures you've designed
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild of mine
Child of mine, chi-ild of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild o-of mine
You don't need directions
You know which way to go
And I don't wanna hold you back
I just wanna watch you grow
You're the one who taught me-ee
You don't have to loo-ook behind
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a child of mine
Child of mine, child of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild of mine
Nobody's gonna kill your dreams
Or tell you how to li-ive your life
There'll always be people
To make it hard for a while
But you'll change their head
When they see you-ou smi-i-i-ile
The times you were born in
May not have been the best
But you can make the times to come
Better than the rest
I know you will be honest
If you can't a-always be kind
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a child of mine
Child of mine, chi-ild of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a child of mine
Child of mine, chi-ild of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild of mine
